Selene 66 Classic Explorer - Gold Coast to Sydney
Selene 66 Classic Explorer – cruises from Gold Coast to Sydney on her first voyage.
Looking stunning with her freshly painted blue hull the Selene 66 Classic Explorer has now completed her first significant trip.
We can also let you know that this Selene 66 Classic Explorer now has a name – Moon Shadow. Selene is the Greek goddess of the moon, so the name Moon Shadow is fitting.
We are putting together a YouTube video that will show some of the highlights from this trip, however I can assure you that Moon Shadow performed exceptionally well on her first significant voyage. We left Gold Coast in less than ideal weather with the forecast showing the seas and wind would improve as we got south of Byron Bay. While the first 6 hours was a bit uncomfortable for the crew, Moon Shadow was in her element with the twin Cummins pushing her along at 9 knots and the stabilisers ensuring the roll was minimised. All systems performed flawlessly as the crew got to know the yacht, her equipment, and state of the art technology. We arrived at 1:30am for an overnight stop in Shoal Bay at Port Stephens where a large swell rolled in. For most of us this was the first test of the at rest stabilisers which ran overnight on the lithium batteries. Those of us who are new to at rest stabilisers were amazed at their effectiveness with the entire crew having a very restful night. Moon Shadow is now at her home port in Sydney and her new owners are delighted to start using their stunning new yacht. Look out for the video on the Selene Yachts Australia YouTube channel.
Enjoy some footage from The Selene Yachts Australia YouTube channel of Moon Shadow during her final sea trials in and around Moreton Bay just prior to the journey to Sydney.
